About The Class
The Kathakali training program at Arjuna Society of Classical Arts, Kazhakuttom, focuses on preserving one of Kerala’s most powerful classical dance–theatre traditions. Students learn the fundamentals of abhinaya (facial expressions), mudras (hand gestures), body movements, rhythm, and storytelling, which are essential elements of Kathakali performance.
Under the guidance of Guru Sri. RLV Arjun Subramanian, students are trained with discipline and attention to traditional techniques passed down through generations. The program helps learners understand not only the physical movements but also the emotional depth, mythology, and dramatic storytelling that define Kathakali.
Classes are structured to help beginners build strong foundational skills while also supporting experienced students who wish to deepen their understanding of Kerala’s classical performing arts.
